TOOTH WHITENING (BLEACHING)
In today’s appearance conscious world, the desire for white teeth has become very popular. Whitening, or bleaching, can be performed with several different methods, but the method we mainly prefer is at-home bleaching with custom trays.
It is important to keep in mind that bleaching is not for everyone or every situation. If you have crowns, fillings, bonding or veneers, these materials will not change color from bleaching. So if you are planning to whiten your teeth, be prepared to replace dental restorations.
The main reason we prefer at-home bleaching with custom trays is that you are in control. Most people find nighttime to be the best and easiest time to bleach. Because the trays are custom fitted, the bleach is limited only to contact with the teeth to be whitened. Through daily applications you can decide when your teeth have reached your desired level of whiteness. And with custom trays future touch-ups are simple and inexpensive.
Whitening Toothpastes
Whitening toothpastes do not, in fact, whiten teeth. They are able to make the claim of “whitening” because of their superior ability to remove external stains from the teeth compared to regular toothpaste.
